Diesel Engine Faq

noname, if your complaints are valid, they're actually good reasons to buy a new VW, not a used one. Warranties on new cars cover just about everything.

OK! I have a 2.7td Nissan 4x4 , it is a P reg , so yes it's old , symptoms , when cold engine starts ok , sometimes excessive white smoke which clears when warm , also excessive engine vibration again clears when warm , also lacks power until it has done a few miles particularly uphill , have noticed oil splatters around engine not injectors , but around turbo area , this does also take a while to kick in if at all ? and no it has not been serviced for a while , the question I guess is , ( 1 ) should I get it serviced would this cure the problems outlined ( 2 ) is it economically viable to do so ? or ( 3 ) does it sound like an expensive major problem ? any thoughts ideas welcome and appreciated , thanking you in advance cheers

The generator is a Ready Power Engine generator. Model # 10D60 And the serial # is 064-8080 Can anyone tell me what year this was built? Help would be greatly appreciated. This thing needs to be completely re-wired. The drive shaft turns, so it isn't frozen. I wish yahoo would let me post links then I could show you guys pictures of all the mysterious wires. Oh yeah the engine is an old Detroit 3 cylinder diesel. I can really use a wiring diagram.

Ok so i was replacing the head gasket on my john deere log skidder, its a 4 cylinder 155 cid, and when i took the head off i found that one of my pistons has about a 1" long chunk broke out of it, the chunk wasnt in the cylinder but it was pressed onto the top of the piston. I was wondering if that cylinder will even fire im not worried about the motor because its and and i will eventually rebuild it i just wand to know if it will run for now

I am a mechanical engineering student and am researching biofuel production and applications. I am trying to figure out if it is at all possible to convert a NON-DIESEL engine to run on waste vegetable oil (WVO). All the internet sites I can find refer to converting DIESEL engines to run off WVO, but do not explain why the engines must be diesel or why regular carburated engines cannot support this technology. So in essence, I am asking if anyone knows of any internet resources (or print material) that explain: 1) whether it is possible to make this conversion on a NON-DIESEL, engine (specifically, an engine with a carburetor NOT fuel injectors). 2) If it is NOT possible, WHY? 3) A detailed and in-depth explanation as to how WVO works in the engine as compared to gasoline, etc. and the location of such sources. What I am NOT looking for is resources that only explain how the vegetable oil is treated, sites that only explain how to convert diesel engines, or sites that only give a cursory overview of the concepts such as "vegetable oil is combustable, so it can be used instead of gas", etc. I need something meatier and more geared towards a scientific and in-depth understanding of the concepts involved. Thanks for any and all help you can give!!

I have a 3.9L 4 cyl. isuzu npr turbo diesel with a 16 ft box. It cruises nice at 65 mph but if I hit a hill I loose speed big time and drops to like 45 mph. Clutch is good. Filters are new. Engine re-sleeved a year ago. I pulled compressor and the turbo looks good too. what do I check next?

From what I have read, diesel engines contain more energy, they release less greenhouse gases, and they're easier to refine. If this is true, why do most cars use gasoline engines instead of diesel engines?

I have tested many diesel fuel valves with gas oil, some of the inject with a typical 'snarling' sound, while others just spray oil. How does the atomization take place and why do some valves just spray.

There is a super trashed out one that I figure I can get pretty cheap.. I mean, this car is seriously screwed up. The hoods are just about rusted through, the inside... Needs work to say the least.. And It's all in all in need of a repaint, bodywork.. and all kinds of crazy stuff. I'm not sure I could make it worth my while, but could I put a diesel engine in it? It's a pretty small car.. And I don't know if it would affect it or not. I'm just thinkin' it would be sweet to ride around in a diesel anglia..

Just wondering how well the gas mileage is and how they compare to gas trucks

if you completely remove the air cleaner system how will the engine react
