Amtrak's Silver Meteor, with 3 EMD E-8 units, is heading southbound for Miami, while departing Wildwood, Florida, during 1974. Wildwood was a major stop on the former SAL, a location where trains sections combined to head North or seperated in sections to head to various southern locations. At Wildwood passenger trains took on water and fuel and boarded or un-boarded passengers at the station, that can be seen in the background on the right or East side. The freight yard is located on the left of West side of the train and is about two miles long. At the time when this photo was taken there was an old roundhouse with an operating turntable in existance where diesels were stored and maintained in the railroad yard. The day provided no sunshine, just an overcast sky with haze in the distance.>
